How hard is it to get your Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in the great state of Indiana? Well, it’s not a cinch. You have to take a 50 question General Knowledge test and you only have an hour to get at least 40 of those right. But before you are allowed to take the exam there are a few things you’ll have to round up first. You need a valid driver’s license as well as proof of permanent residency or citizenship in the US. However, probably the part that is most time consuming before heading to the BMV is getting a Medical Examiner’s Certificate. These certificates are valid for two years (unless you have a condition that needs to be monitored like high blood pressure) and can only be obtained from a licensed medical examiner, as listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry. The certification proves you are physically qualified to drive a commercial vehicle. Once you have been tested physically, then you are ready to be tested mentally and the test answers aren’t obvious ones. Prepping with the official Idaho commercial drivers license manual is crucial, but almost just as important is taking practice tests until you are confident that you have the material down cold. This practice test gives you a hint system as well as tracks your progress so you can try to beat your score. Remember just 10 wrong and you will have wasted the day and the gas it took to get the BMV. Start studying our free CDL General Knowledge Exam Simulator today!
